How do you measure a year?

My, how our city and the Clark County Medical Society has changed over the past year. On 1 October, a madman with an arsenal unleashed on a country music festival and many of you rushed to local hospitals, donned surgical gowns, gloves and masks and jumped in ready and willing to help save lives, even to help perform procedures or assist in ways you hadn’t done since residencies.

In July, the Clark County Medical Society (CCMS) received the American Association of Medical Society Executives (AAMSE) Profiles of Excellence President’s Award in recognition of the society’s outstanding work on educating their members about new opioid laws in Nevada. As Executive Director of CCMS, it was my honor to accept this award on behalf of this incredible organization. It is our job to help doctors do their job and provide quality health care to their patients, our community, and I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many physicians of CCMS who made this program possible. There is still more work to be done, and rest assured we are still working on this important issue.
