The “I’m Sorry” Dilemma, Disclosing & Remediating Unanticipated Outcomes in Healthcare
Adverse outcomes and medical errors can be catastrophic events that require thoughtful and timely responses. This program helps participants (a) understand how communication styles and techniques can enhance or impede the disclosure process, and (b) implement a plan of action for disclosing unanticipated events to patients and families. Participants will have an opportunity to analyze disclosure case scenarios and identify disclosure risk-reduction strategies that they can implement in their practices.
